Weimaraner Dog Breed Pictures

Considered as one of the astounding hunting dogs, Weimaraner dog was developed in Germany. The motive behind its breeding was to have a fast and daring dog with good big nose. This dog is said to have been related to German Shorthaired Pointer. They are capable of hunting large games as well as birds.

Physical appearance:
They stand tall at 23 to 27 inches and weighs from 60 to 90 pounds. Their head is slightly wide between the wide, dropping ears and slightly long with moderately open nostrils. They have beautiful eyes having light amber or gray or blue-gray color. The color of their nose is also gray. With docked tail, these dogs have very short and sleek coat. The coat color of this breed is silver-gray, which is one of the distinctive features of this breed.

Grooming and Behavior:
Brushing Weimaraner once a week is more than enough. These dogs are active and full of energy. Thus, they are often regarded as energetic hunting dogs. They are intelligent and have the tendency to make their own ways in life.
They love being busy and require owners who are good at keeping them busy. With children, these dogs are very good. However, their young ones can sometimes become rowdy or rough with the kids. They can live in harmony with the other dogs of its size. However, they can’t be fully trusted with smaller size pets as they have great instinct of hunting.

Exercise and Training:
They require vigorous exercise, which may include running, agility course training and flyball game each day on regular basis.
Early training can enable the owner to keep control over the dog. Housetraining them can be a challenging task for the owner. 

Health and Lifespan:
Weimaraner dog may suffer from hip dysplasia, eye disorders, torsion, von Willebrand disease, etc. Generally, they have an average lifespan of 11 to 13 years.
