Lhasa Apso Dog is native to Tibet. This breed of dogs is commonly referred as Apso Seng Kyi, which means Bearded Lion Dog. These cute dogs have been bred as companions and watchdogs over the past hundreds of years for Buddhist monasteries and even for the nobility of Tibet.
Physical appearance:
The Lhasa Apso dogs have height between 10 and 11 inches. Also, they hardly weigh 14 to 15 pounds only. These dogs have very attractive dark eyes and long hanging ears with button like nose and small mouth. Their body is longer than these dogs are tall. The tail of this breed curls and rests over the back. They have very beautiful, straight and dense coat. At times, the coat even drags on the floor. The coat is long from top to the rear of the tail having parted in the mid of skull. The coat of almost every color is acceptable.
Grooming and Behavior:
The coat requires careful grooming. It should be combed and brushed on daily basis. The owners may trim the coat to a moderately long length that can be managed by owner. Despite this, the coat should be combed every day to prevent it from getting tangled. The care must also be taken to keep eyes, ears and mouth clean in particular.
They are of stubborn nature and can be independent. They are companion dogs and may get disappointed on being left alone. They are always good with kids who respect them, albeit they don’t tolerate rough handling or play.
Exercise and Training:
The puppies of this breed are very playful. However, the adult Lhasa Apsos usually remain calm. A daily walk along with little play is more than enough for the as part of the routine exercise.
These dogs need socialization at a very young age to prevent them from being wary of strangers. House-training this dog is not easy. Once trained, they become decent and full of manners.

They may suffer from diseases like eye disorders, allergies, etc. They have lifespan of 12 to 14 years.
